Recognizing A Need

This will be an unusual blog as I am writing for an unusual purpose.

I have a passion and calling to write. God has deposited some truths, and ways of expressing those truths, inside of me that He would like me to express in written form, as well as speaking. Knowing that God has put this inside of me, I still recognize that my writing techniques need developing.

I have a strong belief that we are wise to be aware of our strengths and weaknesses. When we are willing to look honestly at our weaknesses, it is then we can work at strengthening these areas and asking our Father God to bring people and situations into our life that would help us to fill in those areas of need. I have seen my Father do this many times.

This blog post is unique because it is actually my entry into a contest to win a trip to an incredible writer’s conference at Laity Lodge Writer’s Retreat (http://www.laitylodge.org/writers-retreat-ii/). I have heard about this great conference for some time now, as I love to read the blog posts by their writer’s at the High Calling Blog ( http://www.thehighcalling.org/ ).

I am excited about this opportunity to possibly be able to attend this writer’s conference. I have much to learn about the skill of writing in order to fulfill not only my desire to write, but to follow God’s fullest destiny for my life. I don’t want to miss one thing that He is asking me to do, and I want to do it with excellence. The Laity Lodge Writer’s Retreat may be one way that I can gain some expertise in an area where I have recognized a need to improve my skills.

May today’s blog post not just be my “entry” into their contest, but may it also encourage you to take an honest look at what are your strengths and weakness. Where do you see a need or lack? Ask Father God if you are to do something to sharpen your skills in this area. I encourage you to look for opportunities to grow!

Examining our weaknesses is tough. I suppose that is one of the steps of taking responsibility for our strengths, right? We hope to see you at Laity Lodge!

Yes, Marcus, it is a challenge to look at both ends of the spectrum when it comes to strengths and weaknesses. I do hope to see you at Laity Lodge! I would LOVE to be there!!

Glad to see that you’ve entered yourself for this Tammy! And I love the challenge to take an honest look at my own strengths and weaknesses… you’ve made me think about what I’m doing to continue to develop myself.

Speaking of which, I’ll be at this retreat! Hope to see you there!
